Martha Shadle was the daughter of John Shadle and Lavina Carley. She married John A. Cyphert on May 12, 1870. They bought a farm in Union Twp., about three miles north of Corsica, PA. Several years later they moved to Sykesville, PA, where two of their children lived, in their senior years. Their children were Harrison Ambrose "Harry", Lavina Maria "Mae", John Elton, Rose Ella, Clara Jane and Charles Everet Cyphert.
