A retired firefighter, who served 33 years in Carmel and Seaside Fire Departments. He moved to the Monterey Peninsula at 6 months old and lived there ever since. He was a graduate of Monterey High School and Monterey Peninsula College. He served in the Coast Guard during the Korean War. He began his firefighting career as a Civil Defense volunteer in Seaside, then became an employee of the Seaside Fire Dept. moving to the Carmel Fire Dept in 1969, he became Asst. Chief 6 months later, and retired in 1986. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. At Christmas time he often dressed as Santa and visited children and shut-ins on behalf of the Fire Dept. and his church.
Survived by his wife of 48 years,3 daughters, 2 sons, a twin sister, a brother, two half-brothers and 10 grandchildren. A daughter, Olive and a son, Donald preceded him in death.
