"Death of a Good Man.

It becomes our painful duty to record the death of Dr. Isaac D. Lanier, one of Calera's best and most prominent citizens which occurred at his residence in this city, about 7 o'clock Wednesday evening, of acute bronchitis, after and illness of about ten days. Dr. Lanier was universally respected. As a citizen he was public spirited and progressive; as a man upright and just; as a physician he stood deservedly high in his profession, and his life was an exemplification of the Golden Rule.

He was born at Huntsville, Ala., in 1831; completed his literary educated at the University of Virginia; graduated in medicine at Philadelphia, and commenced the practice of his profession in Autauga county. From there he removed to Clanton, and thence came to Calera, where he engaged in the drug business as senior member of the firm of Lanier, Bains & Co.

He was Kioght of Honor and a Mason. He leaves a wife, three sons and a daughter to mourn their loss. The remains were carried to Clanton for Burial. - Shelby Sentinel, April 14."
