Julia Ann DeVault has no marker at her gravesite. Cemetery records indicate that there was a temporary marker at one time, but it was not found on Aug. 4, 2015 when this photo was taken. A major renovation of the cemetery took place this July (2015).

Julia’s last name is spelled DeVault in the Byers (also called Ebenezer) Cemetery records, however, the last name on her son Grover’s gravestone (buried next to her) is spelled DaVault. When viewing her records, it seems that the two spellings were interchanged frequently for this family.

Julia Ann was born in 1857 and died in 1897. Her maiden name was Keller. She was married to Taylor Green DeVault on 28 May 1874 in Noble County, Indiana.

Cemetery view looking northeast (toward the road).

Julia Ann DeVault’s Grave is located in Row 20 (counting back from the east end of the cemetery) Grave #5. There is no marker at her gravesite. This location is actually about the second row back from the west end of the cemetery. Julia is buried directly south of her children - Grover C. DaVault (DaVault is the inscription on his stone marker, but listed DeVault in the cemetery records) and Commanche DeVault (no marker).

The grave of Julia Ann DeVault has no marker. Her grave location is noted on the photo, next to the stone headstone, and adjacent footstone, of her son Grover C. DaVault.

Note: “During the recent cemetery restoration (July of 2015), footstones were removed from the end of each plot and placed next to the shining headstones, a more modern approach.”
