Fenton Best, beloved wife, mother & sister, passed away on April 3, 2010 at the age of 91 in Kerrville, TX.
She was born in Iowa Park, TX on September 19, 1918 to Dr. Thomas Marshall and Helen Clark. She attended schools in Iowa Park and graduated from W. F. George High School in 1936, where she excelled in women's sports.

She attended Texas Christian University where she majored in Physical Education and was very active in Women's Sports Association and served as president of the organization.

She met her future husband, William Best, her freshman year at T.C.U.

After graduating from T.C.U., she taught girl's P.E. for one year in Harold, TX. She & William Best were married in 1941 and lived in Pampa, TX where he coached high school football.

During William's 30 years of military service, they lived a number of places, including England and Washington, D.C.

Fenton is a descendant of Addison & Randolph Clark, founders of Texas Christian University.

Her paternal grandfather, Frank Clark, was an early physician in Iowa Park and her maternal grandfather, Z. P. Dale, was an early settler in Iowa Park and founding member of the First Christian Church.

She was a member of Northway Christian Church in Dallas for a number of years, Bear Paw Homeowners Association, Military Officers Association of America Auxiliary, T.C.U. Alumni Association and T.C.U. Women's Sports Association.

Survivors include her husband, William M. Best of Kerrville; son, Dr. Thomas Best & wife, Isabel of Belmont, MA; sister, Polly Moss of Lewisville, TX.; two brothers in law, Jack Moss of Lewisville, TX and Rollen Roberts of Iowa Park, TX; two grandchildren, Sarah Castricum of Quincy, MA and Will Best of Honolulu, HI; one great grandchild, Emily Castricum of Quincy, MA and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a family visitation on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel in Iowa Park, TX. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park.

Memorial remembrances may be made to Peterson Hospice in Kerrville or The Clark Society of Texas Christian University, 2800 S. University, Ft. Worth, TX 76129.
