Ball, Joseph Lightfoot

Joseph Lightfoot Ball came to his journey's end at his home in Harrington Sunday night following a rapid decline in health which began about a month ago. Funeral services were conducted at the Community Congregational Church under the auspices of Laurel Lodge No 119 of which he was a charter member. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery where his life companion was laid to rest ten years ago.

Joseph L. Ball was born Dec. 26, 1843 in Jefferson Co, Ohio… He met and married Theresa Cook in CA. In 1886 they moved to Washington Territory, bought 1 ¼ sections of raw land—one quarter from Brook B. Glascock, reclaiming the land from the bunch grass and sage brush.

Following the death of his wife, his adopted son and family moved into his home with him. Mr. Ball is survived by one brother, Jasper Ball, in VA; an adopted son, Thomas S. Ball; 2 granddaughters; two nephews (J. J. and Charles Cameron), besides other nieces and nephews in CA and the East.
