Elizabeth Ella Deorsam Meyer was born September 26, 1914, in Killeen, Texas, to Elsie and Adam Deorsam.

She died April 13, 2010, in Hondo, Texas, at the age of 95, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents: Elsie and Adam Deorsam and by husband, Marvin Meyer, and husband, Jim Gabehart. She was also preceded in death by brothers: Otto Deorsam, Robert Deorsam, Alvin Deorsam, and sisters: Susie Harris, Ida Rose, Rosa Cox and Louise Spence.

Elizabeth is survived by her children: Stanley and Dolly Meyer of Hondo, Jerry and Betty Katherine Meyer of Hondo and stepchildren: Charles & Minta Sue Gabehart, George & Mary Jane Gabehart. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Gregory & Kerrin Meyer of Austin, Darryl and Trisha Meyer of Portland, Delayne and Tom VanDeWalle of Seguin, Wade Meyer of Waco, Kevin and Leah Meyer of San Antonio, Jason Meyer of San Antonio, her great grandchildren: Riley Meyer and Raegan Meyer of Portland, Emmie VanDeWalle and Myles VanDeWalle of Seguin and Kaleb Meyer of San Antonio. Elizabeth is survived by sisters: Opal Murphy of Temple and Emma & Woodrow Schmidt of San Antonio, sister in law Gertrude Meyer of Knippa, Uncle Lonnie Meyer of Knippa and numerous step grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Elizabeth married Marvin Meyer on April 3, 1938, in Temple, Texas, and was baptized December 3, 1939, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Killeen, Texas.

During their marriage, Elizabeth and Marvin were blessed with two sons, Stanley Meyer, born in Killeen, Texas, and Jerry Meyer, born in Knippa, Texas, where the family lived on a farm for a number of years. They were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Knippa.

In 1958 the family moved to a farm in the New Fountain Community where Elizabeth continued to live until a few weeks ago when she became ill. They were members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Quihi. They remained on the farm and built up their herd of cattle. She named each one of them and enjoyed helping take care of the cattle. Elizabeth also loved to cook, work in her yard, garden and sew. She sewed for the public for many years. On April 8, 1993, Marvin passed away after 55 years of marriage to Elizabeth (the last eight of which he suffered the effects of Alzheimer's disease).

Elizabeth married Jim Gabehart on August 8, 1993, in Bethlehem Lutheran Church where they were both active members. For some years Elizabeth and Jim cleaned the church and took care of the church lawn. After 14 years of marriage, Jim passed away August 27, 2006.

Elizabeth was a member of the Altar Guild, the choir and the Women of the Church (where she was very active in the making of many quilts). Elizabeth belonged to AARP and The Old Fiddlers Organization, where she enjoyed attending many 'hootenannies". Elizabeth baked some wonderful pies and desserts. She was quite active up until the end of her life and particularly enjoyed being involved with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Elizabeth's grandchildren: Gregory Meyer, Darryl Meyer, Delayne VanDeWalle, Wade Meyer, Kevin Meyer and Jason Meyer.
