Madison Frederick Boissonnault was the son of L Frederick and Elizabeth J Boissonnault, and according to a cenotaph the family placed in their cemetery in Spokane County, Washington, their son was born 21 Feb 1846 in Maine. He served as Madison, enlisting in 1864 and transferring almost immediately as a cavalry replacement in Company M, 1st Maine Cavalry, in advance of the Atlanta Campaign; his tenure with the 1st DC Cav is obscure. His date of capture is not recorded. On 8 Dec 1871 his mother was awarded a "Dependency as Mother" pension, which she received until her death in Spokane in 1899. Bureau of Pensions records show the preferred surname spelling. Hopefully someone will find the marker in the Andersonville Cemetery and post that as well.
