Macon Telegraph, Thursday, September 3, 1942 Emory Martin, 20, well known Macon member of the Marine Corps, was killed in action according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Martin (Domingos Souza Martin and Emma Lee Causey Martin), Fort Hill Street, yesterday.
Word was contained in official notification from Washington and no details were given. He had been a member of the Marine Corps for four years and last word from him was received by his parents on July 30.
Special mass was held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church ysterday with Father Robert T. Bryant officiating. The young Macon service man was the first member of St. Joseph's to lose his life in action in the present conflict.
Surviving are his parents; five sisters, Mrs. Ethel (James) Caras, Gainesville, Mrs. (Mildred) Charles Pritchett, Mrs. (Ruth) Joe Robinson, Miss Rose Martin and Miss Marie Martin, all of Macon; and one brother, David, of Macon.
