Neil E. "Ned" Disque died on April 9, 2010 in Colorado Springs, CO at the age of 100.

Born March 10, 1910, Ned grew up in Burlington, Iowa, where he graduated from Burlington High School before attending and graduating from Dartmouth College in 1932 with a BA in English and a journalism degree from the University of Missouri in 1933.

Ned was employed by Curtis Publishing Company in Chicago, Illinois; then worked as a salesman in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Burlington before serving as editor and reporter on newspapers in Fort Madison, Waterloo and Waverly.

During WWII, Ned served as a crewmember on a B-26 before attending Officer Candidate School and subsequently being assigned to the Southwest Pacific.

Following the war, Ned joined Iowa State University in 1947 as editor in the Cooperative Extension Services and thereafter served as editor and administrator in the University Information Service and Office of the Vice President for Information and Development.

Following retirement in 1980, Ned and wife Margaret moved to Green Valley, Arizona; then relocated in the early 1990's to be near their son in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Ned was married in Ames, Iowa in 1953 to Margaret Lowry who survives, along with son Michael Disque (wife Cherri Disque) in Colorado Springs.

During his life, Ned was active in a number of organizations including Ames Kiwanis Club, Phi Delta fraternity alumni groups and the Collegiate Methodist Church.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., Thursday, April 15, 2010 at the Adams Funeral Home in Ames, Iowa.

A private graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 16, 2010 in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
