She was born on Aug. 24, 1937, in Benton, Ill., the daughter of Ira and Emma (Mondel) Rhine.
She was formerly married to George William "Bill" Bruce. He passed away on Nov. 16, 2009.
Margaret worked as a packer at Owens Illinois Glass. She was very involved in school activities, such as a cafeteria helper, librarian, nurse's aide and helper at East Alton-Wood River School District.
She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Bruce of East Alton; four sons, Mickey Bruce of Wood River, Douglas Bruce of East Alton, Jeffrey Bruce of Roxana and Chad and Amy Bruce of East Alton; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe Rhine; a sister, Betty Sanders; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband; and a sister, Pat Hamby.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, where Pastor Robert Bollinger will officiate at services at 1 p.m. Friday, April 16.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Children's Research and St. Anthony's Hospice.
