The son of Wiley B Horton (1800-1863) and Pency (Sims) Horton (1804-1880). He married Jane Elizabeth Osburn in Stewart County, GA on 12 Dec. 1855.

New grave marker for William Richard Horton installed 26 Nov 2016 by descendants Lonnie and Les Moore. The original marble monument for W. R. Horton (broken) was placed in between the this marker and the one for his son, William Lazon Horton.
