Wife of John Cassell Henderson Mary came to America after WWII from London England. Sailed to America on the SS JOhn Erickson during Nov 1946. Born in Glasgow Scotland, daughter of William Russell Jenkins and Annabella Cumming.
She married in Decenber 1946 at Chapel of Friendly Bells in Youngstown Ohio to John. Had her first child at age 40. She left a daughter and one grandaughter . She was the last sibling to pass. Her sister Annabelle Jackson of Glasgow Scotland, passed just one month before her. A sister Margaret Murray preceded her in death and a brother Willie Jenkins died about 1968 in Australia or South Africa as believed.

Mary was an excellent seamstress, made her own clothes and daughter's clothes for years. She like to garden and learned to drive about 1958 through driving school classes. Failed her test several times, a cautious driver she was. In 1964 she became known as "Mustang Mary" as she purchased a new Mustang convertible, yellow with beight top and drove it for years. She had a very quick to wit sense of British style humor, and could be very sarcastic at times. She liked a "good cup of tea" steeped in a pot and served on a silver tray. She spoke with proper grammer always, "spoke the Queen's English" often called.

To my mother...
"She calls to me from long ago; through sunlit skies; through drifts of snow. In clouds that dance upon the sea, I call to her, and she to me.

So real was she. She laughed; she cried. She loved; she lost. She lived; she died. She hoped and dreamed; so real was she. She lived a life that I may be.

The blood through which my veins does flow is the same as her's from long ago. So it will be that when I'm gone in an unborn child it will flow on.

I'll live my life and when it's done I'll live again in those to come. For I'm a bridge from she to me; from those that were, to those to be."

Named Mary Beaton Jenkins after her paternal aunt Mary Beaton Jenkins.
She was married previously in London England for 10 years to a man named Stanley Connell. No children. Marriage ended in divorce.

Jan 30, 2014 - we are still looking for her younger brother "Willi" Jenkins - who died about 1968 in Australia?

Many thanks goes to Rory Paul who provided photographs of Mary's grand and great grandparents never imagined possible.
