Mrs. Cammack passed away on Tuesday morning, April 13, 2010, in Carthage. Irene Ramsey Cammack was born on Feb. 28, 1913, in the Shady Grove Community near Timpson, TX to Charles Ed and Pinkie Childs Ramsey. She attended Shady Grove School and graduated from Timpson High School. Following graduation, she attended Lon Morris College and S.F.A. where she earned her teaching certificate. Mrs. Cammack married R.L. Cammack on Dec. 3, 1936, in Timpson. She taught at the Pine Hill School which was later consolidated into Garrison. After her second child was born, Mrs. Cammack retired from teaching, devoting her time to her family. She and her family moved to the Riderville Community of Panola County in 1952, from Timpson. In 1958, she established The Snowflake Bakery in Carthage. Mrs. Cammack was a member of Pisgah U.M.C. where she was also a member of the U.M.W and taught Sunday school for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Edna Franks; and her husband who passed away on Feb. 18, 1984.
Mrs. Cammack is survived by two sons, Charles L. Cammack and wife Jane of Beckville and George M. Cammack and wife Loretta of Nacogdoches; two daughters, Joyce Ann Allums and husband Bruce of Carthage and Bobbie Woods and husband James of Beckville; nine grandchildren, Chris Cammack and wife Phyllis of Beckville, Pennie Ratley and husband Chuck of Carthage, Cheryl Simmons and husband Danny of Texarkana, Michael Cammack and wife Andrea of Houston, Eric Allums and wife Tricia of Nacogdoches, Janna Richardson and husband Delta of Carthage, Gae-Lynn Woods Popey and husband Martyn of Gary, Jerry Woods and wife Kimberly of Dallas, and Terry Woods and wife Traci of Henderson; and 23 great-grandchildren.
