75 years, 5 months, 13 days and that was not enough time for us to be together. As I sit here, pen in hand, why do I find it so hard to write about a loved one I knew so well.

Mary was the 1st daughter and second child of Roy Lee Mitchell and Nora Mae Page, Mitchell. She had 2 brothers, Ray Charles and Roy Melvin and 1 sister Bonnie Lee.

She worked very hard most of her life, farming, picking cotton, witnessing and working in a defense plant during World War II. Mary was married three times, first to Roy D. Slaton, second to James Floyd (Jim) Pennington and last to Norman H. Hard.

Daughter, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and friend to so many. To the family and friends that knew and loved her so well she was "Grannie". A simple woman who gave so much of herself making other people happy, made her life happy. Life brought her great joy in being with her family. Material possessions in life were not of much concern to her, as she had a heart that was over abundantly rich with love for those she knew. She really enjoyed helping and watching others be happy.

There is a special place in heaven for special people and Momma/Grannie has her very own special place, and Heaven has a brand new special angel to watch over her loved ones.

To those who knew and loved her, take the time to listen to the wind, the rain and take notice of the beautiful surroundings that God has blessed us with. As for Momma/Grannie, if you listen real hard you will hear her voice in the sound of the wind, her gentle touch will embrace you with each raindrop that falls, when you look at the trees, plants and pretty flowers always remember these are the things that Momma/Grannie loved and enjoyed.

"To those I loved and the ones who knew and loved me, this is not good-by, this is "I'll see you later." As you walk down life's road, I'll always be there with you, if you need to talk, I'll always be listening, and may all the memories we shared together bring you peace of mind and happiness of heart and be filled with the knowledge that my love for each and everyone of you was truly great."

Love Momma/Grannie
