DECATUR - Birdie Hartwig Chepan, of Kalamazoo, MI, formerly of Decatur passed away on May 4, 2004 in Kalamazoo. She was born on September 26, 1909 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Howard and Ella (Huntington) Brady and had been a resident of Kalamazoo since 1973. Birdie was preceded in death by her husbands, Roy G. Hartwig in 1947 and Herman Chepan in 1973; a grandson; 2 brothers and a sister. She is survived by her children, Joan (Jack) West of Kalamazoo, Roy "Gene" (Gloria) Hartwig of Combined Locks, WI, and Doris (Bob) Banning of Aurora, CO; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; a sister, Margaret Hassing of Kalamazoo; several nieces and nephews. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and inurnment of cremains will take place at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2004 in the Harristown Cemetery in Harristown, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 6126 Lovers Lane, Portage, MI 49002. Arrangements by Langeland Family
