He was the son of John and Phoebe (Reid) Seelye.
He was born in St Johns New Brunswick. He was a timber cruiser and organized a wood cutting crew to furnish fuel for Seattle industries during the panic years in the early 1890's. This made it possible for local citizens to make a living in those strenuous days. At the time of his death Mr Seelye was living on his tract of land between Bellevue and Beaux Arts. He was survived by his daughter, Mrs Bessie (Horace) Ivey of Bellevue.
