John "Mickey" Frederick Tozzolo, of Chesapeake Beach MD, died after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, November 28, 1987, in Takoma Park MD, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 50.
John (né John F Gibbs Jr) was on Thursday, May 13, 1937, in Washington DC, to John Frederick and Carmela (née Tozzolo) Gibbs. At a young age, his father passed away and his maternal grandparents adopted him and raised him as their own.
Before joining the military, Mickey was briefly employed as a barber, like his Uncle Vincent and Grandfather Geaton. He served in the US Marine Corp, during the mid 1950s. After being discharged, he married Connie M Lignelli and drove delivery trucks until retirement.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, Carmela (née Tozzolo) Larrieu and John F Gibbs; and his maternal grandparents, Geaton Thomas Tozzolo and Mary V Tozzolo. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Connie (née Lignelli) Tozzolo of Chesapeake Beach MD; his three sons, John Tozzolo and his wife Diane of Chesapeake Beach MD, Daniel Tozzolo of Fort Lauderdale FL, and David Tozzolo and his wife Dawn of Virginia; his grandsons, Tony & Michael Tozzolo; his half-brother, John Larrieu; and half-sisters, Maryed and Antionette.
Visitation was at the Lee Funeral Home, 8125 Southern Maryland Blvd, Owings, MD 20736. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Saint Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in North Beach MD and interment followed at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham MD.
