Died, in this city, Thursday, Jan. 28th, 1892, Michael F. Zimmermann, aged 85 years, 11 months and 7 days.
The deceased was born in the Province of Brandenberg, Prussia, Feb. 20th, 1806. On the 22nd day of November, 1832, he was married to Dorothea Zickrick. There were thirteen children born to them, of whom seven are now living. There are thirty-nine grand-children and three great-grand-children. In 1848 they came from the old country and settled in the town of Ashford, Fond du Lac County, Wis. - a dense forest at that time. Six years later they moved to Lomira, Dodge County, same state. In 1864, the family emigrated to Minnesota, and settled on a farm, three miles north of St. Charles, where he resided until 1872, when he came to this city.
Three sons from Aberdeen, South Dakota - John, Michael and Charles, and also one daughter, Paulina Turner, from Nobles County in this state - attended the funeral. Mrs. Emma Lindekugel, from Mansfield, S.D., was absent. The children living around and in St. Charles are one son, Mr. Fred Zimmermann, one daughter, Mrs. Mina Blankenberg, and one son-in-law, Mr. Jos. Bockler.
The deceased leaves a wife 79 years of age. He was an amiable, kind father, a good neighbor, and a respected citizen, of which the large attendance at the funeral bore witness. The services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Huelster. The remains were buried in the Carpenter Cemetery, north of town.
