Graveside servcies for Garth Baker, 85, retired school superintendent, were followed by a memorial service at First United Methodist Church.

Garth Baker married Eunice Johnson Nov. 29, 1939 in Jacksboro, Texas at the home of her sister, Mrs. J.D. Craft. The couple left for Mineral Wells to spend the weekend and will make their home at 920 Plum Street.

Garth Baker was a veteran of the Army Air Forces serving during World War II. Baker was a graduate of Texas A&M. He entered the Army Air Corps in 1945 and trained at Sheppard Field.

A graduate of Weatherford High in 1934, John Tarleton College in 1937 and A&M in 1939. In 1949, Mr. Baker received his Master's of Science in Education from North Texas Sate University. Mr. Baker worked in the Graham Independent School District for a total of 44 years, serving as an agriculture teacher, high school principal, and superintendent. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and taught the Business Men's Sunday school class for many years.

During Garth Baker's administration, a new junior high school building was built, a seven room addition at Crestview, a five room addition at Woodland and Special Education was added to the curriculum. All schools were air-conditioned and the heating system at the high school was updated.

Survivors: Wife, Eunice Baker of Graham; two daughters, Jean Miller and Jan Badash.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Baker; sister, Beverely Thomas; several nieces and nephews.
