He was a Cleveland County native, born on March 6, 1918, to the late Deams Erastus Hoyle and Mamie Beam Hoyle of Fallston. Wayne was a fixture at Cleveland Lumber Company for 70 years. He began work there in 1939 and worked until the beginning of 2009. It was the only full-time job he ever had and he was known by many as "Mr. Cleveland Lumber."
He was a long-time active member of Ross Grove Baptist Church where he was a former deacon and past church treasurer; also, a former member of the JayCees. He was an avid golfer until three years ago when his health forced him to give it up. He took pride in his vegetable gardens every year and in his yard work. Travel was one of his passions.
