Born Dec. 28, 1922, in Kearney, Neb., the son of John P. and Violet East Merryman.
Lived 60 years in Rockford. Married Marion V. Jacobson in Rockford on Aug. 17, 1946. He was employed more than 46 years as a service engineer at Eckstrom Carlson Co. Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Jim enjoyed fishing, gardening, bowling, golf and was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins. He also greatly enjoyed the fellowship of his family.
Survivors include wife, Marion, sons Larry M. Merryman of California and Gary P. Merryman of Tennessee, daughters Cheryl (Anthony) Zegunis of Ohio and Carol (Ballard) Brannan of Rockford, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is his mother Violet Merryman of Torrance Calif, twin brother Wayne Merryman "Jack" of California, sister Phyllis (Harold) Cloyd of New Jersey, and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by father John, and a brother and a sister.
