Long-Time Physician Here Dies
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel for Dr. John Wilson David, 80, of Corsicana, who died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital. Rev. Jack Riley will officiate, and burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
He was a native of Mexia and had lived in Corsicana since 1909. He was a member of First Methodist Church. He practiced medicine in Corsicana for 50 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Miss Dorothy David of Corsicana and Mrs. Frances David Look of Fort Worth; two grandchildren; a brother, Louis David of College Station; and a sister, Mrs. Ralph Stell of Corsicana.
Dr. David was a graduate of Corsicana High School and Southwestern University. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He helped organize the Corsicana Little Theatre, Civic Music Club, the local health unit, and the Medical Auxiliary for Navarro County. He was a member of the Civitan Club and the Navarro County Medical Association.
Dr. David was co-founder of the Navarro Clinic and an honorary member of the Salvation Army. He was also active in the Navarro Heart and Cancer Associations, a member of the Texas Radiological Society, and the American Medical Association. He served as counselor of the 12th district for the Texas Medical Association and was a member of its 50-year club.
Pallbearers for the service include Bill Register, Elmer Butler, Rusty Gaston, Dan Hamill, Dr. James Whitten, Rib Lang, Gene Cordell, and Jim Stephenson.
