Services for Beth Pleasant (Ward) Branch will be 11am Wed, Feb. 28th, 2007 in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. Beth will be laid to rest at Pontotoc Cemetery near Ada at 1pm on Thurs, Feb. 29th. Father George Ebert will be sharing words of comfort. Beth passed away Sat, Feb. 24th, 2007. She was 53.
Born in Clovis, New Mexico on Dec. 3rd, 1953 to Herbert Pleasant and Almedia Christine (Bryant) Ward, Beth was reared and received her education in Ada. She graduated from high school in McCloud. When she was a young adult, she made her home in Claremore. She and J.T. Branch married on Dec. 18th, 1982 in a Talala ceremony.
Having continued her education by attending tech school at the Williams Center, she soon earned her credentials as a dental hygienist. So accomplished at this, she used her knowledge to share good hygiene skills at school presentations. Not only did she share her skills with students, she also practiced her skills, having been a dedicated employee at the Claremore Indian Hospital for 28 years. She also trained as a respiratory therapist.
When there was time to just relax, Beth’s life was full of adventure and activity. She was artistic and enjoyed both painting and playing the keyboard. She also appreciated the simple things in life such as a beautiful flower or bird. She not only treasured the companionship of her two dogs, Bunny and Dixie, but her interest extended even further as an advocate for pets through her membership with the SPCA.
Witty and clever, Beth’s family was never quite prepared for some of her pranks, but they loved having the pleasure of their own family entertainer. She had close ties with many, but the bond that she and her mother shared is reflected in her mother’s special name for her daughter, she was her “buddy.”
Beth is survived by her treasured family which include her husband, J.T. Branch of their home in Claremore; her mother, Almedia Christine (Bryant) Sumner and her husband, Steve; her sister Rozanna W. Hammer and her husband, Lawrence of Lost City, Oklahoma; her sisters-in-law Janet K. Harvey and her husband, James Lester, of Marion, North Carolina, Gloria Razook and her husband, Fred, of Claremore, and Patricia Ann Smith; three nieces and one nephew; one great niece and one great nephew.
