Nehemiah Phillips was born to Luke & Martha Bowen Phillips about March 1780 in Glocester, Providence, Rhode Island. [The age at death given on the tombstone does not match the marriage date for his parents of 28 May 1781.] He married Phoebe Rhoba Hopkins in probably 1812 in Foster, Providence, Rhode Island and they had as many as 14 children. [Two of the youngest sons - Luke and David Phillips - moved West to Fulton and Peoria Counties in Illinois.] Nehemiah died on 20 Sept 1850 and is buried in Sterling Center, Cayuga County, NY. The burial location of Phoebe Hopkins Phillips is unknown.
