Charles J. Lindell
(Obituary)

Charles J. Lindell was born in Kise Oster Gottland, Sweden, February 7, 1860, and passed away as the result of an accident September 4, 1945, at the age of 85 years, 6 months and 27 days.

He immigrated to this country in the early eighties and spent some time in Hamilton county before coming to Sherman county. He had resided in Sherman county for the past sixty years.

One brother, Gust Johnson, at one time resided in the Balsora community but later moved to Hamilton county where he passed away in 1928.

Their parents passed away when the boys were young and Mr. Lindell was the last survivor of the family. He established a home some distance south of Arcadia where he lived until 1904 when he moved to the farm which was his home until the time of his death.

On April 5, 1891, he was united in marriage to Hulda Anderson. To this union seven children were born: Elmer of Comstock, Martin of Lincoln, Alpha (Mrs. Chas. Nygren) of Arcadia, Hilma (Mrs. Leonard Erickson) of Portland, Ore., Mable (Mrs. Oscar Dahlberg) of Lincoln, Lloyd of Gravette, Ark., and Albert, at home on the farm.

On May 30, 1891, he was baptized and united with the Balsora church of which he was a member at the time of his death and where he had served as trustee, Sunday school superintendent, treasurer, and in many other ways worked for the betterment of the church. He was director of the Balsora school board for thirty-five years.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his faithful wife, seven children, twelve grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral serices were conducted by Rev. F. E. Johnson, former pastor of the Balsora Baptist church, from the Arcadia Methodist church Thursday afternoon, September 6. Hymns were sung by Lowell Finecy, accompanied by Mrs. H. D. Weddel. Pallbearers were John Erickson, Oscar Pierson, George Nelson, Ben Nelson, Arthur Pierson and Wes Hurlbert. Burial was in the Balsora cemetery, south of Arcadia, near his home.
