Huston Joseph Long, 75, Punta Gorda, Fla., died Saturday, February 5. Born April 5, 1924 he was the son of Leonard and Leona Stoot Long. He was raised in the St. Patrick area. Mr. Long worked at Hoerner Box, the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, and retired as an iron worker. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Long was an avid softball player and mushroom hunter. Survivors include sisters, Pauline Gallant and Marilyn Roach, both of Canton, and Janell Boltz of Keokuk, Iowa; brothers, Dick Long, Davenport, Iowa and Ray Long, Lisbon, Iowa; children, Christopher, Rogers, Ark., Rande and Donna Sheffler Findley, both of Longmont, Colo., Michael, Cooperas Cove, Texas, John, Montrose, Iowa, and Darcy Quick, Woodbine, Iowa; stepson, James Searls, Longbeach, Miss.; 13 grandchidlren; and six great grandchildren. The body was cremated. Memorial services were in St. Patrick. Inurnment was in the cemetery in St. Patrick. There was no visitation.
