MANSFIELD: Cornelius "Neil" Harris, Sr., 55, of 189 Harker St. died Thursday, April 08, 2010 in Triumph Hospital after an extended illness.

Mr. Harris was born September 15, 1954 to the late LJ and Essie Taylor Harris in Yazoo City, Mississippi and had been a life long resident of Mansfield. Neil was employed by Smurfit Stone Container for 6 years when the company closed its doors. Prior to being employed by Stone Container he served 18 years with Bunting Bearing Manufacturing. While employed he served as the Union President at both companies. A hard worker Neil was recently accepted to college to study his interest in solar wind power. A well loved man with a strong will and personality, you always knew where you stood with him, he said what he meant and meant what he said. Neil cared for his fellow man and was rich in love. He enjoyed fishing whenever he could, going out on his boat, and encouraging and teaching his love of fishing to his grandchildren.

Neil is survived by his wife of 22 years, Juanita Bronson Harris; three sons, Cornelius Harris, Jr. of Mansfield, LJ Harris and Kareem Harris both of Columbus; two daughters, Crystal (Reginald) Wilson, and Montashia Christopherson and her fiance Ronald O'Dell; seven grandchildren, Nakia Lindsay, Jr., Raneal Ewing, Najue'cha "Nicole" Lindsay, Kadisah Jackson, Kimara and Ke'Shaun Wilson, and CaeZar Harris; one aunt, Ruth Newbern of Mansfield; three special friends, Lewis Oliver and Delbert Williams both of Mansfield, and Roy Alsept of Ashland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Neal was also preceded in death by his step father, Floyd McNeil; and brother, Floyd "Bay" Harris.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, at 11:00 a.m. in the Providence Baptist Church by Dr. Thomas Hunt. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery.
