Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Mae Blake, 73, wife of W. Scott Blake, were held Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Downard Church of Christ, with Elder J.H. Chism of Gainesville officiating. Mrs. Blake passed away at her home in Downard community at 1:30 A.M., Sunday.

Burial was in Witt Cemetery under the direction of George J. Carroll and Son Funeral home. Bearers were Ray Holley, W.O. Douglas, Tom Kirchenbauer, Harvey Watson, Bill Atnip and Stanley Atnip.

Mrs. Blake was born July 12, 1868, near Fort Bridger, Wyo., and was the first white child born in Wyoming territory. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Rogers and came with her parents to Cooke county in her early childhood. On March 6, 1895, she was married to W. Scott Blake, and had lived in Downard community for many years. She was a member of Downard Church of Christ.

Surviving are her husband, a son, Wesley S. Blake, who is in the U.S. navy stationed in California; four daughters, Mrs. Chad E. Shock, Refugio; Mrs. B.L. Stephenson, Mrs. Lee Herrington, Mrs. Richard L. Smith, Dallas; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a brother, Walter Rogers, Mangum, Okla.; five sisters, Mrs. C.D. Laverty, Gainesville; Mrs. E.V. Elmore and Mrs. Anna Potter, Sherman; Mrs. Altha Cotten, Waurika, Okla.; and Mrs. Lucy Loyd, Henrietta, Okla.
