He was born Dec. 20, 1922, in Plainview. He married Vada J. "Nita" Mize on May 22, 1943, in Motley County. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He worked in the banking industry in Borger. He moved to Lawton in 1998. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Matador.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carita D. Hutchinson of Lawton; seven brothers, Jack and Luther, both of Matador, Art of Flomot, Ted of Plainview, Donald of Floydada, Pat of Sinton and Richard of Texas; two sisters, Bessie Jean Williams of Matador and Juanita Pritchett of Flint; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
