THE PARIS NEWS, Dec. 04, 2005: 'Christine C. Abeles, 95, of Paris died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at Paris Nursing Home. Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. She will be buried beside her husband, Edward W. Abeles, who preceded her in death on April 28, 1976. Following the graveside service, friends may meet with the family at a reception from 3 to 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Paris. She will be memorialized during the morning worship services at First United Methodist Church on Sunday, Dec. 11. She was born Christine Cornelia Sharp on Dec. 8, 1910, near Commerce, the daughter of Grady and Pearl Hindman Sharp. She attended Lone Oak High School and graduated valedictorian in 1928. She attended Texas Women's University the next year in Denton. The family moved to Paris in December 1930 when her father became manager of the Lyon-Gray Lumber Co. While employed at Perkins Brothers Department Store, Christine married Edward W. Abeles on Feb. 19, 1933, in Hugo, Okla. Following the death of her husband, she worked in several Paris business stores, including 13 years for Dick House's Good Housekeeping Shop. She was also employed with the Parisian Dress Shop, and for three years she was secretary in the physical education department at Paris Junior College. She was a longtime member and dedicated volunteer church worker of First United Methodist Church of Paris. She was a member of New Era Fellowship Sunday School class and Methodist Ladies Auxilliary. For more than 20 years, she was superintendent of the primary department of Sunday school and was director of Mother's Day Out program beginning in 1985 until its end. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Norris Sharp. Survivors include four sons, Dan Abeles of Paris, Edward Abeles of Paris, Neil Abeles of Atlanta and Victor Abeles of Paris; sister, Tomazelle Sharp Henderson, and her children, Pat of Dallas and Kim Henderson of Florida; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Mike Abeles and wife, Sandy, and their children, Brady, 11, and Emily, 8, of Huntington Beach, Calif., Brian Abeles of Sea Tack, Wash., Vickie Bland and children, Joshua, 13, and Jordan, 17, of Shasta City, Calif., Angela Cornelia Abeles Beeler and husband, Cody, and their children, Kellie-Laine, 10, and Landrie, 2, of Waco, Florence Prae Abeles Ferrell and husband, Mark, and their child, Grace Ryan, 1, of Athens and John and Julie Bell and their child, Jordan Riley, 10, of Paris; daughter-in-law, Jackie Bell Abeles of Paris; and other surviving relatives, Amy Henderson and children, Jennifer Eikenhorst and Courtney Henderson, of Dallas. Named as pallbearers are her sons and John Bell, Pat Henderson, Jackie Norris and Bill Madding. If desired, in lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to a charity of choice.'
