GEORGETOWN Pauline Sawyer, 97, widow of Thomas Clinton Sawyer, Sr., died Wednesday, Mar. 24, 2004 in Prince George Healthcare Center.

She was born March 5 1907 in Tylertown, Miss., a daughter of the late William Coulter Warner and Seleta Louella Graves Warner.

Mrs. Sawyer was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Esther Fidelis Sunday school class. She was a former superintendent of the Primary Sunday school department and was very active in all parts of church services for many years. She was a member of Whites Bridge Garden Club and a volunteer for Georgetown County Mental Health for many years.

Surviving are one son, Thomas Clinton ``Tommy'' Sawyer, Jr. and his wife, Carole Gene of Georgetown; two daughters, Sylvia S. Owens and Janet S. Barrineau and her husband, Bobby, all of Georgetown; seven grandchildren, Lisa O. Johnson and her husband, Mike, William Farrel ``Billy'' Owens Jr. and his wife, Stephanie, Dr. Robin Barrineau Welsh and her husband, Jeff, Robert Hamilton ``Bob'' Barrineau and his wife, Mary, Thomas Clinton Sawyer III, Carmel Sawyer Mamajek and her husband, Gene, and Carole Ann Sawyer; eleven great-grandchildren, Michael and Meagan Johnson, Haley, Bo, Stevie, and John Owens, Madeline and John Welsh, Elizabeth and Robert Barrineau , and Joshua Mamajek; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son-in-law, William Farrel Owens, Sr. in 1999.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Mar. 26 at First Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Ted Sherrill and the Rev. Hiram McElrath. Burial, under the direction of Graham Funeral Home, will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
