George W. Davis married Margaret Wolfe July 23, 1832 in Harrison Co., IN.

1840 census Franklin Twp.,Harrison Co., IN. G.W. Davis
1 male 10-15, ??? may be a farm hand predates marriage.
1 male 20-30, George W. Davis born abt. 1811.
2 female 0-5, Mary C. 1838, Margaret Jane 1835.
1 female 5-10, Elizabeth 1833.
1 Female 20-30, Margaret 1815.

1851 Mahaska Co., Iowa. George Davis with 9 people living in the household. George, Margaret and their seven children. George and Margaret passed away and their oldest daughter Elizabeth was married the same year. The oldest daughter Elizabeth and her husband may have brought the youngest five children back to Harrison Co., IN shortly after the death of their parents. They most likely lived with their grandfather, John Wolfe, and his second wife.

According to probate records for the estate of John Wolfe (1791-1859), father of Margaret Wolf/Davis, George Davis and Margaret were both deceased by 1860.
According to DAR application of Thomas Jefferson Fullenlove, grandson of Emily Davis Fullenlove, Margaret Wolfe Davis died in 1851 and her husband George W Davis died in 1852 above his death year is written the word drowned.

The following is invaluable since the family of George and Margaret Wolfe/Davis hasn't been located in the 1850 census and some of the kids were married and scattered around by the 1860 census.

August 1864....from John Wolfe probate.
"And the heirs of Margaret (Wolfe)Davis, a deceased child, to wit; Elizabeth Wilson wife of Calvin Wilson, Margaret Jane Wilson wife of Michael Wilson, Mary Tuell wife of Nimrod Tuell, Emily Fullinlove wife of Thomas J. Fullinlove, Lyman Davis and Ann Davis who together are entitled to one thirteenth part of two thirds." In earlier probates of the John Wolfe estate they mention Margaret's other son George W. Davis who was deceased by the time this one was written in 1864.

Daughters Emma and Mary were married in Harrison Co., IN. in April of 1857, but consent was given by someone other than their parents.
In August of 1862 sons George and Lyman enlisted in the Civil War with the 81st Ind. Inf. Reg. Co. C. Son George died while serving in Nashville, Tn Dec. 23, 1862. Lyman had previously served in the 16th inf.

George W. and Margaret Davis' burial is actually believed to be in Crane/Crain (Underwood) cemetery in Mahaska Co., Iowa. The cemetery is located in the same section that George owned land. There is also a daughter Louise buried with them.

7)Malinda Ann Davis (abt.1847-aft.1864) is listed as the wife of David Hewitt in a later probate, so I've assumed (maybe incorrectly) that she was married under the name "Indiana" Davis. Indiana Davis married David P. Hewitt on March 30, 1864 in Harrison Co., IN.
8) Louise...buried with parents.
