Anna Elizabeth Romstad, daughter of Wallace and Sarah Best, was born at Mitchell, Iowa on April 28.1906. She came to N.Dak with her parents in 1907 and it was here that she received her early education in the rural school and graduated from Oakes High School. She also attended Valley City College and taught school for fifteen years. On Nov 8th 1941 she was united in marriage to Harold Romstad at Oakes; the Romstad's have continued to make their home in this area the past thirty-five years. Mrs Romstad passed away Tuesday evening as a result of a heart attack and would have been seventy years of age the following day.
She is survived by the following: Her husband of Oakes, one son Keith of Cedar City, Iowa; daughter, Janice Romstad of Wilmington, Delaware, two brothers, Art & Howard Best of Oakes and one sister, Marie, Mrs Russell Nielsen of Minneapolis, Mn. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Oakes on Sat May 1st at 10:30 a.m. with Rev Edward Parker officiating. Mrs Larry Roney served as organist and Kenneth Ehrlin sang "Beyond The Sunset" and "The Old Rugged Cross" All men in attendance at the service were considered honorary pallbearers. The following served as casketbearers, Les Savey, George Fordyce, Leon Zimbelman, William T Johnson, Neal Wood and Earl Martin. Interment was in the Oakesview cemetery with Haugen-Baldwin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
