Archibald Samuel "Arch" Bell was the ninth child of Archibald Randolph Turk Bell and Judith Derossett of Pattonsville, VA (Scott County). He married Mary Alice Harris on 2 Jan 1890 in Pattonsville, VA. The wedding was conducted by the Rev. Robert S. Harris, father of the bride. Ten children were born to this union: Millard, Samuel, Clarence, James Presley, Clara, Paul, Rufus, Anna, Rebecca, and Hurshell Bell. The economic hardships made life difficult in Scott County and Arch took carpenter jobs near and far to care for his family, while his wife tended the hearth and home. She was the de facto leader in this family since Arch was gone for long stretches of time. The family moved to Leesburg, VA in March of 1920. Here he later died at age 84.
