Richard Earl Knupp, 85, died at 1:30 a.m. April 4, 2010, at Home Hospice and Health Park, in Fort Myers, Fla.

He was born Nov. 11, 1924, in Lima to Eugene and Jeanie Brown Knupp, who preceded him in death. On July 27, 1946, in St. Rose Catholic Church, he married Mary Fae Shook who died Aug. 25, 2000.

Mr. Knupp worked for Western Ohio Stone as an electrician and also worked out of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 32. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He was a corporal in the Army from Feb 16, 1943, through Nov. 15, 1945, during World War II, and he received a Good Conduct Medal, the WWII Victory Ribbon, Euro African Middle Eastern Ribbon with three stars, and the American Theater Ribbon. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, Lima, the Sabres Gun Club the National Rifle Association, the 44th Infantry Division Association, and he was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. He was an avid shooter.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy (Ron) Curtis and Becky (Jim) Green, both of Lima; a son, Tom (Janet) Knupp, of Lima; six grandchildren, Stacey Curtis, Angie (Rich) Manley, Andrea Green, Tim Green, Shawn Knupp and Kelly (Luke) Dearth, all of Lima; and five great-grandchildren, Ali Manley, Alyssa Manley, Keaton Manley, Shawn Tyler Knupp and Braden Knupp, all of Lima.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold "Moe" Knupp, and a sister, Mildred Duff.

Private family services will he held at a later date. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
