Sara Gole, 86, of Batesville, formerly of Marks, died Monday, March 29, 2010.

She was born December 2, 1923 in Lula, Miss. to Horace William Carpenter, Sr. and Lena Thornton Carpenter. She spent her childhood in Lula, Miss. Sara married Maurice Joseph Gole, Jr. on December 25, 1943. She raised her family in Marks and has lived in Batesville for the past ten years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marks.

Mrs. Gole is survived by her son Maurice Joseph Gole III and his wife Jan, two daughters Sandra Gole Prichard and her husband Dennis, Janet Gole Murray and her husband Donnie, 11 grandchildren; Scarlett Willis, Audrey Jackson, Alisa Russell, David Prichard, Dawn Sink, Sara Jane Russell, Dylan Crowell, Camille and Charlsie Murphy, D.J. and Barry Murray, and her 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Nell C. Farmer, a brother Horace William Carpenter, Jr., her husband Maurice Joseph Gole, Jr., a daughter Sara Camille Murphy, and a grand daughter Sara Elizabeth Prichard.

A celebration of Sara's life with the family will be held at the First Baptist Church of Marks on March 31, 2010 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. with a graveside service following at Oakridge Cemetery in Clarksdale at 2 p.m.

Kimbro Funeral Home of Marks is handling arrangements.
