CHESWOLD - Marjorie Louise Hunter Hughes of near Cheswold died after a long battle with breast cancer Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, in her home, surrounded by family. She was 73.

Mrs. Hughes was born April 20, 1926, in New York City.

She graduated from Morris High School and from New York Hospital for Joint Diseases, where she received her nursing degree.

In 1959 she joined the nursing staff at Kent General Hospital, where she worked until retiring in 1991.

Mrs. Hughes was a long-time and active member of Christ Episcopal Church, Dover. She especially enjoyed teaching Sunday School and working with the youth.

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church, State and Water streets, Dover.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 7171 W. Division St., Dover.

Burial will be in Fork Branch Cemetery, Dover.

Arrangements by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to: Bayhealth Foundation, 640 South State Street, Dover, DE 19901, for an additional bed in the Chemotherapy Department.
