As a young man Frederick worked for Joe Laveck, his uncle, on a farm in Illion NY. Following a dispute, he returned north, where he married Lola Brown of Parishville, NY and moved in with her parents. He would eventually move to Winthrop, NY where he built a home on the bank of the St. Regis river.
The village blacksmith shop, owned by his son-in-law William Keegan, was located next door. Sometime after his death in 1938 the house was sold. In 1990 it was purchased by his grandson, Douglas Keegan who still lived next door.
Frederick died at Winthrop, NY on 7-31-1938 and is buried in the Winthrop cemetery.
