Bill Christman Dies At 92; Services Set

William B. ("Bill") Christman, 92, formerly of Gibbs, died at 8:59 Sunday morning in a Kirksville hospital, where he had been a patient since October 25. Before entering the hospital, he had been a patient in Adair County Nursing Home for four years.

Born in the state of Illinois on March 31, 1884, he was the son of Bernard and Louiza [sic] Freiberger [sic] Christman. On Feb. 20, 1903 in Kirksville, he married Ruby Fletcher who preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 1954. Also preceding him in death were five sons, Julian Christman, Dean Christman, Harry Christman and two in infancy; four sisters; four brothers and one grandchild.

Surviving are four daughters, Hilda James of 315 N. Florence, Mrs. Albert (Virginia) Saulinskas and Sadie Everhart, both of Chicago, Ill. and Pauline McMonagle of Tacoma, Wash; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Arch (Vesta) Morrey of Ft. Madison, Iowa.

Mr. Christman was engaged in farming in eastern Adair county until 1954 when he moved to Gibbs.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the chapel of the Foster Memorial Home. The Rev. Kenneth Kelley, pastor of the Hamilton Street Baptist Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Willmathsville cemetery.

Bearers will be: Lloyd Christman, Stanley Christman, Charles James, Donald James, Kenneth James and Charles Galloway.
