Our Uncle Frank called one day to say that someone telephoned his house thinking his son, Ray, had gotten injured. It wasn't Ray. It was my brother, Porky. Our mother was in Zelienople, PA, and I called to let her know. It was a terrible day in our lives. Porky was only 15 when he died from injuries received in an accidental 50-foot fall from the Rochester-Bridgewater bridge while trying to catch pigeons to raise at home. I have never looked at a pigeon and not thought about how my brother's love for them cost him his life. And I never got over missing him--especially when our mother got old and I had to take care of her without him in my life. I could have used his help. Somehow we get through it all and life goes on with a lot of nice memories. I hope that when my time comes it will be my brother who comes and gets me.
