John Sylvester Snover was born 5-4-1871 the son of George S & Mary (Kresge) Snover. He married 1st on 4-24-1894 at Newton PA to Elizabeth "Lizzie" Van Deburg, b: 1873, d: 1903, the daughter of John & Phebe (Van Debogert) Van Deburg. They had one daughter Ruth, born 1901.
John Snover then married 2nd, at Pittston, PA on 10-25-1905 by Rev W. D. Thomas, to Jennie Weir. He then moved to a farm in Ransom, PA with his brother-in-law, Chris Richards. In 1913 he moved to a house on Parsonage St. in Pittston PA.
He worked for Pittston Flour and Feed Co. for the next 5 years before moving back to a farm with his brother Edwin. Within two years he returned to Pittston Flour and Feed and remained there until his retirement in 1952.
John's mother was Mary Kresge; his 3rd cousin, born in 1868, was Sebastian S. Kresge founder of SS Kresge 5 & 10 stores and the current K Marts.
John died 2-6-1962 and is buried in the West Pittston cemetery.
