Bernard J. Baker, 72, of 2127 Harrison, died at 6:11 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 19, 1978) in the emergency room of St. Mary Hospital. He had been taken in the hospital by ambulance after suffering an apparent heart attack in his home. Coroner Wayne Johnson said he had been under a doctor's care and death was due to natural causes. Mr. Baker was born Feb. 15, 1906, in Kahoka, Mo., a son of James S. and Amy Riney Baker. He married Marie Henderson, Jan 6, 1926, in St. Peter Catholic Church. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in January, 1976, at an open house in their home hosted by their children and grandchildren. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He was employed by Ozark National Insurance Co., before retiring in 1968. He farmed in Lewis County, Mo., before moving to Quincy. Surviving are his wife; a son, Joseph H. Baker of Quincy; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Maxine) Genanbacher of Quincy; two brothers, Ernest F. Baker of Canton, Mo., and James R. of Payson; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 10 in St. Boniface Church, conducted by Msgr. John Bertman. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Adams County Heart Fund.
