Born to Joseph and Mary Jane Willcockson, he was one of their 7 children. He had three brothers: Sam, David Early and Joseph T; and three sisters: Ota Louisa, Emily Francis (Frankie), and Mary Edna. His father's previous marriage
to Matilda McDaniel also gave him 2 half-siblings:John Gibson and Virginia C.(Anna) Willcockson.

He married Annie Maude Roberson in Dec of 1905 in AR. They adopted a daughter,Gladys Lucille about 1910.

He graduated from Ft. Worth Baptist Seminary and attended the Louisville, Ky, Seminary. He was a Baptist Minister. He served many churches over the years.

His tragic death occurred one day when he was out walking near the railroad tracks. It was thought by witnesses that he stumbled and fell into the path of a on-coming freight train, which struck and killed him.
