Ruth Carter Ferre (1921 – 2010) of Orem, Utah, passed away peacefully from causes related to age, on 8 April 2010 at Hearthstone Care Center in Spanish Fork, Utah, with her family by her side. She was the third, of seven children, born in Provo, Utah to Heber Charles (1897-1986) and Lottie Thompson (1899-1985) Carter, who both preceded her in death.

She attended Franklin Elementary school and graduated from Provo High School. She married Alma Ferre on June 8, 1940 in Centerville, Utah. They were sealed as a family in the Salt Lake Temple on May 1, 1959. Alma preceded her in death (1917-1995). She worked for school lunch for Alpine School district until she retired. Ruth was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings over the years in both the Relief Society and Primary organizations. She loved to knit and crochet and made sweaters, slippers, and afghans for nearly all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She taught many family members and friends to quilt, embroider, knit and crochet. She also enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. Her home-made raspberry jam was second to none. In her earlier years she was also a great companion to her husband on the deer hunt and usually caught more fish than he did on their fishing trips.

She was preceded in death by five siblings: Garnet Carter Allam Thorton (1918-1993), May Carter (1920-1920), Ella Carter (1923-1923), Lamar Verl Carter (1925-2002) (Mildred Hanson), Heber Paul Carter (1928-2006) (Jeaneene Miller) and one grandson Jerome Val Gore (1977-2005). She is survived by one brother, George DeWaine Carter, her five children: Charles Alma (Pat) Ferre of Orem, UT, Ruth LaRene (Mickey) Braithwaite of Spanish Fork, UT, Jerry (Bonnie) Ferre of Benjamin, UT, Garry (Shirley) Ferre of Spanish Fork, UT, and Virginia (Dennis) Gore of Mapleton, UT, 24 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, Orem, UT on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 with a viewing Monday evening from 6-8 pm.

Palbearers are her 10 grandsons: Thayne Ferre, Ryan Ferre, Kerry Ferre, Karl Ferre, Frank Ferre, Michael Ferre, Craig Ferre, Adam Ferre, Brandon Gore, and Cody Gore
