Funeral services for Mrs. James DeWitt, who died in Prairie View Rest Home Saturday, February 7, were held in the chapel of the Barkley Funeral Home in Canton Monday, February 9, with the Rev. A. F. Moncrief in charge. Mustic was furnished by William Dorris, with Mrs. Earl Barkley at the organ. Pall bearers were Glenn Miller, Hallie Little, Raymond Johnson, Dewey Tuley, Elmo Tuley, and Homer Kimberly. Burial was in Forest Grove Cemetery. Jessie Mae Tuley DeWitt, the daughter of Samuel J. and Elizabeth Jane Armstrong Tuley, was born near Monticello on April 4, 1886. She was united in marriage to James Thomas DeWitt on November 11, 1923. She spent her entire life in Clark and Lewis Counties. She united with the Congregational Church in Clark County early in life. Later she moved her membership to the Baptist Church in Canton. She and Mr. DeWitt lived on a farm until about 10 years ago when they moved to Canton. Survivors include her husband; two sisters, Miss Ada Lee Tuley of Canton and Mrs. Arthur Kimberly of Monticellp two brothers, Ernest Tuley of Canton, and Frank Tuley of Springfield, Ill.; three nephews; a niece; and other relatives.
