Carroll, a native of Milwaukee, practiced medicine for 46 years, 32 of which were spent in Mobile.
He graduated from Marquette Medical School in 1939. During World War II, he served as medical officer aboard the USS Ajax.
Carroll was a Fellow of the Academy of Family Physicians. His memberships included the American Medical Association, the Southern Medical Association, the Medical Association of the State of Alabama and Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Society. He also was a member of Skyline Country Club for 30 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary C. Haynes and Nancy C. Stanton, both of Mobile; two sons, Gordon E. Carroll Jr. of New Orleans and John E. Carroll of Birmingham; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. until the 6 p.m. memorial service at Radney Funeral home on Dauphin Street.
Memorials may be made to a favorite church or charity.
