Alan "Kent" Gaitskill, age 67, of Lexington, Kentucky, husband of Sonja Oldson Gaitskill, died Tuesday, February 13, 2007. He was born May 22, 1939, in Fayette County, Kentucky, the son of the late Melvin Thomas and Dorothy Harborne Gaitskill, and was a graduate of Paris High School and the University of Kentucky. Kent was retired from the telecommunications field. He was a newly licensed realtor and a well known musician, bass player and singer, who performed with many different musicians. He was a founding member of Saint Raphael's Episcopal Church, where he sang in the choir, served on the vestry and a search committee for a new pastor and was a senior warden.

Kent is survived by: two daughters, Whitney Gaitskill (Frank) Curci, of Bardstown, and Kimberly Gaitskill Hurst, of Lexington; five grandchildren, Alan Michael Curci, Adam Kent Curci, Samantha Marie Curci, Brandon Hurst and Kristen Hurst; a great-granddaughter, Jada Brooke; and his faithful dog and companion, Sam.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, at Saint Raphael's Episcopal Church, 1891 Parkers Mill Road, Lexington, by Rev. Sally Boelter, followed by a luncheon and jam session. Burial will be at Lexington Cemetery. Casket bearers will be David O'Neill, Russell Kenney, Shyjak Miller, Lafayette Gant, Nicky Moore and Terry McDonough. Honorary bearers will be his fellow musicians. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Saint Raphael's Episcopal Church. Hinton-Turner Funeral Home, in Paris, is in charge of arrangements.
