Margaret Mae Akers 'Grandma' Church
Margaret Mae Akers "Grandma" Church, 71, of Terre Haute died at 4:58 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 1997, in Meadows Manor Convalescent & Rehabilitation Center. She was born Oct. 2, 1925 to Alvine Akers and Laura Jeffers Akers. Her husband, William F. Church, died Jan. 15, 1987. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Paul Akers and Anna Akers of Brazil; one son, James Hargett of Terre Haute; six daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Shuler and Steve Shuler, Patti Bullock and Robert Bullock; Kathryn Sparks and Randy Sparks, Wilma Barnes and Bob Barnes, Marsha Hay and Steve Hay, all of Terre Haute, and Susan Ondorff and Victor Orndorff of Brazil; one daughter, Billie Rae Johnston of Terre Haute; two daughters and their companions, Peggy Church and Joe Pitts and Emma Jane Abrell and Buster Hinds, all of Terre Haute; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tommy Akers and Mindy Akers of Frankfort and Robert Akers and Virginia Akers of Mount Clemens, Mich., two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie Batson and Dan Batson of West Terre Haute and Connie Malmstrom and Bob Malmstrom of Fairborn, OH; 36 grandchildren, and 48 great-grandchildren. she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jennifer Church; one grandson William Orndorff; and two granddaughters, Patricia Freeman and Angela Hargett. She was a member of United Brethern Church in Union. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in Mattox-Wood North Terre Haute Chapel, with Rev. Abe Miller officiating. Burial is in Grandview Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday.
