He died November 13, 1992 in Hattiesburg following a long illness. He was a native and resident of Greene County's George Brown Road, a logger and a member of Winborn Chapel Methodist Church.
He is survived by five children, Virginia Ann Beard of Jackson, Ala.; Mary Jane Beard of State Line; James Beard, Ken Beard and Shannon Beard Pipkins, all of Leakesville; and six grandchildren.
Also surviving are his mother, Mary E. Beard of Leakesville; three sisters, Betty Lou McLeod and Martha Jane Hollinghead of Leakesville and Myrtis West of Petal; and three brothers, Ray Beard, Pop (William) Beard and Ike (Alfred Wilson) Beard, all of Lucedale.
Interment was in the Winborn Chapel Cemetery with Fails Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
